Guard Day Observance
August 3 On August 4, 1790, President George Washington signed into law a bill creating the Revenue Cutter Service. In 1915, the Revenue Cutter Service merged with the U.S. Life-Saving Service to form the U.S. Coast Guard. The Lighthouse Service became part of the Coast Guard in 1939. This year's observance included appearances by World War II station veteran Ezra Ross and an award to long-time supporter Warren Hulburt, as well as the art of Jim Davenport and our own Elaine Reomen. |

Orford Annual Holiday Bazaar
December 7 At the bazaar, the Point Orford Heritage Society set up the Gift Locker at the Port Orford community building. As part of our ongoing efforts to raise money for museum improvements, we offered new station coffee mugs, station logo shirts and custom made dog tags. Besides helping the bottom line, it was a fun event. Thanks to Breuer Construction for moving the dog tag machine. |

September 23 The Port Orford Lifeboat Station was the venue for the Port Orford/North Curry County Chamber of Commerce History Mixer. Representatives from the Point Orford Heritage Society, the Friends of Cape Blanco (the Historic Hughes House and Cape Blanco Lighthouse), the Joan of Arc vacation rental, and the Black Auto Museum made short presentations. |

Flag Presentation
August 23 Representative Peter DeFazio presents a U.S. flag to Society President Viola Cuatt. Representative DeFazio donated the flag after arranging for it to be flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of the men who served at the Port Orford Lifeboat Station from 1934 to 1970. |
